Today we have another Joystick from Thrustmaster, the T.Flight Hotas X. Most people are happy with using a keyboard and mouse to playing on flight simulators and games such as Battlefield 2 but there are a lot more people who prefer to have more control while gaming.

The T.Flight Hotas X is here to out-do it’s predecessor, (which we reviewed here last month) because it doesn’t just include a joystick, it also includes a detachable throttle control and direct configuration for immediate takeoff during gameplay. So lets see if the Hotas X can perform even better than the T.16000M.

Features

T.Flight Hotas X (PC & PS3 Compatible)

Unique: Plug & Play for ultra-simple and fast installation with all functions pre-configured for immediate takeoff (without worrying about configuration)

Detachable, real-size, ergonomically-designed throttle control

Dual-system aerodynamic control: by rotating handle (with integrated blocking system) or by progressive tilting lever

High-precision joystick with adjustable resistance

Wide hand-rest for optimal comfort

Trigger for brakes (civil flight) or for rapid fire (military flight) + multi-directional hat (panoramic view)

Exclusive “MAPPING” button: all functions may be instantly switched around between each other

Exclusive “PRESET” button”: to switch, while playing, instantly from one programme to another

Internal memory: to save all of your programming, even with the joystick disconnected

Programmable: the 12 buttons and 5 axles are entirely programmable.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX (PC version)

60 aircraft available for various missions

Introduction

Despite the fact that flight simulator games can be played with a keyboard and mouse, a joystick adds extra realism and enables you to immerse yourself further into the game. It feels like you are actually flying the aircraft rather than simply mashing buttons on a keyboard.

Today, Thrustmaster have provided us with their T.16000M for review, which despite sounding like a terminator, is from their range of joysticks. It has some rather impressive features such as a resolution of 16000 x 16000, 16 buttons and 3D magnetic sensors. But do all these features add up to make a great joystick?

Features

Switch enabling users to configure the 12 buttons located on the base in a left- or right-handed position

Exclusive precision technology: H.E.A.R.T. – HALLEFFECT ACCURATE TECHNOLOGY™!

3D (Hall Effect) magnetic sensors located on the stick:

Offer precision levels 256 times greater than current systems (i.e. a resolution attaining 16,000 x 16,000 values!)

Magnets ensure friction-free action for unlimited precision in time

Helical spring (2.8 mm diameter) located in the stick providing firm, linear and smooth tension

Fully ambidextrous joystick!

3 removable components allow the joystick to be perfectly tailored for left-handed or right-handed use

Piloting with a joystick in each hand is now possible in all games compatible with two joysticks

16 action buttons!

12 on the base and 4 on the stick

4 independent axes

Rudder controlled by rotating the stick

Trigger for brakes (civilian flights) or rapid fire (military flights) control

Multidirectional hat (for panoramic view)

Ergonomic design for optimum comfort

Wide hand rest for reduced stress

Weighted base for enhanced stability

A patent application has been filed

Plug & Play device offering extremely simple and quick installation, with all features preconfigured for immediate and hassle-free takeoff!
